One of the countries I've been most excited to serve in is Honduras. The reason for this is because when I was in my 6th grade Spanish class we had an assignment where we were asked to pick any Spanish-speaking country that we would want to go to on an ideal vacation. And I picked Honduras! As I did my research as a 6th grader for Honduras, I found waterfalls and different fun aspects of the culture that I thought I would like to explore. My research wasn't very extensive, but at that point in my life as a 12 year old a seed was planted in my heart for Honduras.
We found out this week that due to Covid our route has changed and rather than starting our journey in Guatemala, we will be going directly to Honduras and serving there for the next two months. We will be serving with a ministry focused on empowering, teaching and equipping the locals in their area in ministry! I am so excited to be serving with a ministry that not only serves the local church, but equips and multiplies believers and those in ministry!
As we are preparing to serve around the world, the Lord has reminded me of this scripture in 1 Corinthians 3:6-9:"6 I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. 7 So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. 8 The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. 9 For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building."
We are called to be obedient to God and to show our love for Him through our obedience. Life with the Lord is full and abundant. I don't know if I'll be planting or watering seeds in Honduras, likely both. And I may never know how my obedience to the Lord impacts and changes a life, and that's okay. Because God knows! He's the one that makes the seed grow and He's the one that draws others to Him! I'm called to be faithful and obedient and I am so honored to be able to love and serve the Lord and others well this year. As always, thank you so very much for your support, prayers and partnership in this ministry and journey!
